“To dream a dream and share it with others” The 60m long and 2.5m high enamel painting came into existence thanks to a commission from the “Wiener Linien” (Viennese Public Transport Department). The “Wiener Linien” put out a tender for an open competition using the “Wiener Wurstelprater” (Vienna Prater Fun Park) as a theme to decorate a connecting passage of a new underground station. After a 2 year development phase the painting was officially made open to the public on the 10th of May, 2008. The artistic design was first painted on to the enamel panels by Martina Schatz and Ernesto Müller (F. Farbklang), who conveyed my work both competently and with great empathy. The enamel panels were then constructed and fired by the company Schremser Fa. Bauservice Fuhs, where the manager, Jürgen Spanel, and his team facilitated the production with skill and dedication. The painting is characterised by a lightness and weightlessness that leads one into a world of magic, poetry and playfulness. Liss, the ‘Wurstelfrau’ invites the passer-by on a journey along the red thread and then leaves them in high spirits ready to explore the Prater. |
